Evolution of organic-inorganic halide perovskites opto-electronic properties under illumination


Solar cells based on organic-inorganic halide perovskite absorber layers are emerging as high-performance photovoltaic technology. Their tunable optical bandgap with sharp absorption edge and excellent electrical properties predetermined them for use in optoelectronics in general. On the other hand, their stability at moderate temperatures and upon moisture ingress is still a crucial issue. In this proposed project, we will study in detail the degradation mechanisms of halide perovskites films, mainly the role of moisture, illumination and temperature. Macroscopic techniques as well as techniques with high spatial resolution will be applied to the perovskites films, carefully keeping in mind the possible influence of the degradation on all the measurements. Electronic and optical quality will be characterized by direct measurement of charge carriers diffusion length and photoluminescence/optical gain, respectively. These basic material properties will be linked with solar cell performances.
