Pierre Auger Observatory (based in Mendoza province, Argentina) is the world largest and
most advanced project in Ultra High Energy Cosmic ray detection. In the decade of its
functioning it has resolved many questions that had motivated the construction, yet many
questions remain and some more have emerged. For further operation, based on the results
obtained so far, the Observatory is planning to undergo an extensive upgrade, especially
towards the improvement of composition sensitivity of the detectors.
The Czech teams have been participating in various topics regarding the Observatory since
the very beginning. Their role is well visible and appreciated.
The presented project is intended to ensure the continuation of the collaboration, to enhance
and broaden the Czech participation in the project and to improve the local facilities in order
to enable the contribution to the upgrade of the detectors. The project should encompass
scientific activities using the data from the present and upgraded detectors, analysis and
modelling as well as monitoring the detector performance.
