Development of Czech participation in CTA

The project aims to integrate the Czech institutions into the scientific program of the planned Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA). Besides the preparation of the scientific program itself and the calibration of the telescope prototypes the Czech contribution would consist of wide participation in various working groups of the Observatory, such as those responsible for the preparation of the final dataset of the sources of the high-energetic gamma radiation, corrections to the atmospheric conditions or the optimization of the optical systems of the telescopes. The proposed project follows up on previous activities of the Czech institutions, particularly those related to the main scientific goals of the CTA, to the calibration of the observatory and to methods of construction of the optical telescopes. The project has a new participant besides the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Charles University - the Palacký University Olomouc, which entered the CTA consortium in the year 2015.
